Japam team won the Asian Selection for the gran final of the Pastry World Cup 2025

Last continental selection before the Grand Final, the Asia selection for the Pastry World Cup was held this Wednesday 23rd and Thursday 24th October in Singapore. After 2 days of competition, Japan won this selection, represented by Masanori Hata (chocolate candidate) and Yuji Matoba (sugar candidate). Sosa Ingredients participe as sponsor of this event, that was an oportunity to be present in the asia market.

In 2nd and 3rd place rank respectively Malaysia and Singapore. China, South Korea and Philippines complete the Top 6 of this selection to qualify for the Grand Final of the Pastry World Cup, which will take place on 24th and 25th January during Sirha Lyon 2025.

Ladies summer fashion

With “Ladies summer fashion” as competition theme, the 9 teams had 7 hours to realise 16 restaurant-style desserts along with a new kind of test: 2 big travelling cakes and 24 individual travelling cakes. To finish with 6 take-away crystal jars and 24 individual pints.

6 teams qualified for the Grand Final at the end of this 2-day competition, right in front of a jury composed of renowned pastry chefs, including members of the International Organisation Committee: Frédéric Cassel and Marc Rivière, Pastry World Cup winner in 2009.

Automatically qualified for the Grand Final in 2023 after its second place on the podium during the 2021 edition, Japan participated for its very first time at the Asia selection of the Pastry World Cup. Taking the first place of the podium, the Land of the Rising Sun imposes itself again as one of the Asian and World pastry references, and aims for a 4th gold medal in January 2025, after its victory in 1991, 2007 and during the last Grand Final held in 2023.
