At Sosa Ingredients, we have reached a milestone that reaffirms one of the founding principles that define us: obtaining ISO 22000:2018 certification, the international benchmark standard for food safety management.
This is news that makes us particularly proud, because it speaks not of a one-time achievement, but of a way of working. Behind this certification are years of rigor, control, and continuous improvement in each of our processes.
What is ISO 22000:2018?
ISO 22000:2018 is the international standard that establishes the requirements for implementing a Food Safety Management System (FSMS). Its purpose is to ensure that food is safe throughout the entire supply chain, from the origin of raw materials to the final product: the well-known ‘farm-to-fork’ approach.
What distinguishes this standard is that it integrates three fundamental pillars into a single system:
A high-level structure —common to standards like ISO 9001— based on risk-based thinking and the continuous improvement cycle (Plan, Do, Check, Act).
The principles of HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points), internationally recognized by the Codex Alimentarius, to identify, prevent, and control food risks.
The Prerequisite Programs (PRPs), which ensure basic conditions of hygiene, traceability, and control of the production environment.

In practice, this means that food safety is no longer understood as an isolated check, but functions as a living, documented, and verifiable system that constantly evolves and strengthens.
A responsibility, more than a requirement
For us, food safety is not a box to tick: it is a responsibility and an absolute priority.
We work with ingredients that reach the kitchens and workshops of professionals in more than 70 countries, and with brands that put their name on the final product. This trust can only be sustained on an unnegotiable foundation: the guarantee that everything that leaves our facilities complies with the most demanding quality and safety standards.
ISO 22000:2018 formalizes and certifies something that is already part of our DNA: the culture of food safety in every person, in every process, and in every decision.
The challenge of achieving it
Obtaining ISO 22000:2018 certification is not a mere formality. It is a demanding process that tests the entire organization.
It requires analyzing and documenting every potential hazard —biological, chemical, and physical— at all stages of production; defining critical control points and monitoring systems; ensuring complete traceability of each batch; establishing hygiene, maintenance, and training protocols; and demonstrating, to independent external auditors, that the entire system operates consistently and sustainably over time.
It is also a cross-functional effort: it involves production, quality, logistics, maintenance, purchasing, and management equally. And it doesn’t end with the certification audit; it requires continuous maintenance and improvement of the system to retain it. Therefore, overcoming it is also recognition of a collective and constant effort.
Scope of our certification
The certification covers our activity in manufacturing products and ingredients for the food industry, specifically:
- Production of cold and hot candied fruits in their own syrup, sauces, jams, and fruit concentrates, all with final pasteurization in the packaging.
- Production of whole, cut, and/or ground freeze-dried fruits, vegetables, and flowers.
- Production of fruit or sugar-based candies, coated in chocolate and/or cocoa butter, such as peta crispies and wet-proof.
- Preparation of liquid or powdered mixtures of additives, processing aids, flavorings, and food ingredients.
- Grinding and repackaging of animal-derived rind
- Production of nut-based products in various forms (flours, sticks, flakes, roasted, caramelized, and fried caramelized)
- Production, pasteurization, and semi-automatic or manual packaging of nut-based pastes and pralines.
- Repackaging and/or relabeling of various products manufactured by third parties (granulated caramelized nuts, nuts, additives, and food ingredients) for the food industry.

A broad scope that reflects the diversity of our catalog and the level of control we apply to each product family.
What it means for the brands that trust us
Beyond technical recognition, this certification has very concrete value for our customers.
Brands looking for reliable suppliers need objective and verifiable guarantees before incorporating a partner into their supply chain. ISO 22000:2018 is precisely one of the standards that major groups and international chains require to approve their suppliers and integrate them into their purchasing centers.
Having this certification places us at the level of these demands. It facilitates approval processes, opens the door to collaborations with the most demanding clients in the sector, and provides our partners with essential peace of mind: knowing that they are working with a supplier who has independently demonstrated their robustness in food safety.
In a market where trust is everything, this certification is a key that opens doors and consolidates long-term relationships.
A commitment we continue to build
ISO 22000:2018 is not an endpoint, but a confirmation of the path we were already on. We will continue to invest in control, traceability, and continuous improvement, because we understand food safety as a permanent responsibility to our customers, to the professionals who work with our ingredients, and to those who enjoy the final result.
At Sosa Ingredients, we continue to advance with the same high standards as always: to do things well, in every detail.
